- Bachelors Degree in an education related field or equivalent experience
- Ability to relate well to students, coworkers, prospective employers
- Locate community/employment sites for students in cooperation with the teacher and staff.
- Maintain an information sheet on each business contact.
- Maintain business cards to be given to potential employers.
- Provide employer with needed information about students related to work setting.
- Follow up business visits with a call or letter of thanks
- Assist with vocational assessments to determine jobs best suited to student interest and aptitude.
- Perform task analyses of jobs and teach specific skills in manageable steps.
- Work with students on the community/job sites to insure that they have the skills necessary to perform job requirements.
- Maintain a balance between giving support and allowing independence that is appropriate for the student being trained.
- Assist students in practicing social, academic, and vocational skills in the classroom and community environments
- Work with employers to evaluate student’s performance on the job on a monthly basis.
- Maintain a log of time and visits to job sites.
- Provide a schedule each week to the Special Education Teacher.
- Keep parents informed of their child’ community-based site.
- Provide information to parents concerning performance of students on the job
- Notify both Assistant Principal and Special Education Teacher in advance or as soon as possible when an absence from work is necessary.
- Assist in maintaining records on students related to Department of Labor guidelines for students participating in off-campus vocational training.
- Maintain an up-to-date Commercial Drivers License (CDL) to assist in the transportation of students to job sites in the community.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned to ensure the successful implementation of transition services for students with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: The Designated Special Education Teacher and Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To facilitate successful job training opportunities and placements for students with disabilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conducts duties in an office/school/work environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to office work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
Bus Work is conducted primarily on a school bus where one is required to drive in varying weather conditions which means exposure to conditions such as heat, cold, rain, humidity, etc., and at times to drive on poor road conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and awareness. Physical demands are related to the operation of a school bus wherein one is required to drive, operate handbrake and other controls, and maintain cleanliness of equipment. Routine local travel is required to transport to and from school; no overnight travel is required.
