Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position performs skilled work in one of the maintenance trades with journey level experience. Trades include the following: plumbing, electrical, painting, equipment repair, alteration and repair of facilities, occasional new construction, and other related work as required. This position works independently with limited direct supervision or as part of a crew requiring coordination with fellow workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
1. Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, installation and repair to buildings and equipment for assigned trade area.
2. Performs preventative maintenance.
3. Uses hand and power tools necessary to perform the duties assigned.
4. Assists with ordering parts and maintaining updated inventory.
5. Assists with maintaining and updating records for all work performed on equipment.
6. Transports equipment.
7. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. a) Education and/or Experience: A one year certificate from an accredited technical school; or six months related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
b) Certificates or License Required: Valid Georgia driver's license.
c) Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
d) Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
e) Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions.
f) Technical Ability – Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to research part numbers and other equipment information.
g) Customer Service Ability – Must be capable of interacting effectively with others using tactful and helpful customer service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently working in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Additional Requirement: Must be at work on time. Must meet attendance standards. Must conduct activities safely.
