What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Support planning efforts that enhance FEMA's operational readiness and emergency response capabilities
- Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of FEMA-led exercises, including tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises
- Conduct research, data analysis, and after-action reviews to support continuous improvement
- Help draft planning documents, exercise materials, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate with FEMA regional offices, federal partners, and other stakeholders in preparedness efforts
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to synthesize information and write clearly for a variety of audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management or data visualization tools a plus
- U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret Security Clearance or above
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Internship or coursework related to emergency management, homeland security, or disaster planning
- Experience with exercise design, planning, or evaluation (e.g., HSEEP framework)
- Team-oriented with a proactive, self-starting attitude
- Familiarity with FEMA doctrine or national preparedness frameworks (e.g., NIMS, NRF, THIRA, SPR)
