What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assist in the review and preparation of FHA, VA, and Conventional loan files for underwriting
- Run automated underwriting systems (e.g., DU, LP) and monitor results
- Log and track case numbers, appraisals, and mortgage insurance certificates
- Pre-approve, suspend, or pre-decline loans within assigned authority and escalate as needed
- Provide technical support to team members by identifying basic file issues
What is Required (Qualifications):
- College degree in finance, business, or related field preferred; commensurate work experience considered
- Minimum of 1 year of mortgage operations or processing experience preferred
- Basic understanding of Conventional and Government loan programs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and loan origination systems
- Strong organizational skills and clear written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with AUS systems (e.g., DU, LP) a plus
- Detail-oriented with an analytical mindset and aptitude for numbers
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior underwriters
- Experience in responding to inquiries from originators and processors regarding underwriting documentation
