Job Summary: • Serve as part of the team that implements English Language Arts (ELA) Standards and the Move On When Reading program around the state
• Responsible for building guidance documents, providing technical assistance to schools and districts, for presenting and leading trainings, and overseeing professional development related to Pk-5 literacy, ELA standards, science of reading, structured literacy, dyslexia, and Move on When Reading program
• Occasional in-state and rare out-of-state travel is required for this position
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.Job Duties: • Professional Development: Building, revising, scheduling, delivering, and overseeing multi-format professional development related to Pk-5 literacy, ELA Standards, science of reading, structured literacy, dyslexia, and Move On When Reading
• Guidance and Technical Assistance: Building, maintaining, and disseminating guidance documents and resources, providing technical assistance over the phone, via email, virtually, and in person related to Pk-5 literacy, ELA standards, science of reading, structured literacy, dyslexia, and Move on When Reading
• Record Maintenance and Reporting: Maintaining records for professional development, test scores, and data related to Move On When Reading, build reports for multiple audiences to share data on Pk-5 reading, literacy and Move On When Reading, present findings to multiple audiences, maintaining and revising the ADE Literacy websites and Move on When Reading portal
• Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge in:
• Evidence-based research in the areas of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, and Language
• Essential components of reading instruction
• Science of reading and structured literacy
• Move On When Reading legislation
• Arizona's ELA Standards
• Assessment systems, practices, and types
• Effective strategies in working with adult learners
• Evidence-based practices and programs relative to literacy instruction
• Experience in literacy instruction, literacy intervention, and development of and/or implementation of instructional literacy resources, including those related to intervention for reading struggles and dyslexia
• Applicants must have taught or administered in a Pk-5 setting for a minimum of three years
• A Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a related field, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required

Selective Preference(s): Preference will be given to those applicants with:
• Master’s degree in education, reading, literacy, or a related field
• Reading Endorsement
• Training in dyslexia and working with students with dyslexia
