      RESPONSIBILITIES

      In the sub department Process and Synthesis Research at BASF we are working on some of the most complex and fascinating value chains in the chemical industry, e. g. in the field of aroma chemicals, vitamins, agro intermediates or chelating agents.       • As an integral part of our sub department, you will propel the research and development of fine chemicals forward.
      • Along with searching for new products, a strong focus will be placed on optimizing existing processes and procedures as well as developing new processes.
      • You will work on multi-step organic syntheses from initial screening in the laboratory up to scale production.
      • With your know-how you will support our business units in generating own IP and in the evaluation of patents from competitors.
      • You will responsibly be leading a lab team and you will ensure the compliance of our safety and environmental regulations.
      • With a lot of engagement, you will build up your network within R&D as well as with production, technology and marketing and will become a trusted partner of your stakeholders.
      • You will tackle innovative research topics with enthusiasm and thus will be part of the advancement of our research area.
      • While accomplishing your tasks, you will also continue to develop your entrepreneurial and personal skills.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent degree
      • In depth knowledge of organic synthesis and preparative organic chemistry. Photochemical background is of advantage but no necessity
      • Good IT application skills in standard chemistry software and the willingness to learn German
      • Team player with entrepreneurial mindset
      • Distinctive proactiveness as well as strong communication skills and a high target-orientation
