  Job Description

  Working hours are on a rotational shift basis:

  Shift days are: Mon-Fri, Tues-Sat, Mon-Thurs + Sun, and Tues-Fri / Shift hours are: 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm 8am-6pm.

  Whilst training the shifts will be across Monday to Friday.

  • Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
  • Sample preparation in line with company protocols
  • Microbiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocols
  • Training and operation of relevant equipment
  • General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
  • Accurate Data entry into laboratory database
  • Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
  • Effective communication with all employees
  • Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor
  • Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory

  Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level/HND in relevant science subject
  • A level in a science related subject
  • GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
  • Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
