Preparing laboratory materials including accurate standards and solutions
Collating and organizing incoming field samples
Operating laboratory instruments, and performing other laboratory methods
Assisting with fieldwork activities
Reporting and communicating results with stakeholders and managers
A good degree in appropriate subject or equivalent experience (e.g., Chemistry or Physics)
Aptitude for learning and developing within the team and the role
A methodical and organised working style, comfortable with repeat lab routines
Good teamworking skills and the ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach
Experience working in a laboratory setting (for example, as part of university course lab modules)
COSHH awareness
Experience of preparing solutions and reagents to a high standard
A full UK driving licence (vehicles will be provided)
Salary £23,914
Fully site based
12-Month Fixed Term Contract (ideally looking for someone to start in June 2024)
Full-Time (37 hours per week), Part-Time will be considered (needs to be a minimum of 29.6 hours – equivalent to 4 full days) Flexible start and finish times can be accommodated

You’ll be joining a friendly and supportive team, as part of the Atmospheric Composition Change Group, which sits in our Science Area for Atmospheric Chemistry and Effects (ACE).
The focus of the role is to deliver high-quality chemistry analysis services and results with our Air Quality team. You’ll be operating and maintaining a pool of analysis instrumentation, which are core to ACE, and helping maintain the laboratory to an exceptional standard - including good health & safety practices, team working and general laboratory housekeeping duties.
