What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Interview clients and consumers to gather information for legal cases
- Conduct legal research and writing to support advocacy efforts
- Provide counsel and advice on self-advocacy to clients with disabilities
- Assist in representation at mediation and administrative hearings
- Collaborate with teams to investigate systemic issues affecting individuals with disabilities
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Current enrollment in law school with a commitment to a part-time internship
- Ability to work remotely and reside in California during the internship
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Fluency in Spanish, particularly for roles in the Fair Hearing Project
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in legal advocacy
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and disability rights
- Familiarity with California disability law and related legal practices
- Interest in public interest law and community service
