- Answering phones and greeting visitors;
- May be required to train other team members on job responsibilities;
- Performs related duties as required.
- Representing facility leadership in the absence of Administrator, House Manager or Assistant Administrator;
- May be assigned as the facility Safety Officer;
- Filling in shifts as needed;
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or seventeen (17) with Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) certificate in Idaho. C.N.A. certificate preferred;
- Certifications in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Food Handlers preferred, and medication assistance certificate (or state equivalent) required;
- Prior experience as a cook and/or caregiver preferred, preferably for large groups;
- Knowledge of medications, drug reactions, and physician’s medication instructions;
- Knowledge of all resident’s rights, including the right to be free of restraints and abuse;
- Knowledge of therapies and techniques used to improve resident quality of life;
- Knowledge and use of safe practices in caregiving, cooking, and cleaning;
- Ability to work with diverse populations including age, those with mental illness, memory loss diagnosis, and/or physical impairments, and aid in these resident’s ADL’s;
- Ability to prepare meals in an attractive and timely manner, follow a prepared menu, make appropriate changes as needed;
- Ability to handle emergency situations, power outage, medical emergency, fire, flood, etc;
- Ability to schedule workload so meals are on time, residents are cared for, and the facility is clean and safe;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, residents, and families;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data at all times;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and to keep daily records.
- Must pass a criminal background check;
- This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing;
- Complete ongoing monthly continuing education, following state specific requirements;
- Punctuality and attendance at scheduled shifts.
- Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling required;
- Repeated hand and arm movements, chopping, lifting, reaching over head, standing for extended periods of time, use a step stool and work on wet slippery surfaces, able to work around extreme heat and steam in the cooking area;
- Must have sufficient physical ability to: stock food; prepare, cook and serve proper meals clean kitchen, kitchen equipment; bathrooms, bedrooms, floors, etc.
- Must frequently lift or move objects weighing up to thirty five (35) pounds unassisted.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of a state licensed/certified Administrator, assists residents with all activities of daily living (ADL’s) such as hygiene, toileting, showering, dressing, laundry, activities, cooking and serving meals, and maintains a safe, clean, home-like environment. The Lead Caregiver is the point of contact for Caregivers in the building and performs basic supervisory tasks.Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·Assisting residents with ADL’s including, but not limited to, grooming, hygiene, dressing, clothing cleanliness, perineal care, showering or baths, nail care, shaving, eating, ambulating, turning and positioning residents, etc., which requires lifting up to 35 pounds;
·Assists with training new caregivers
·Using therapies and techniques to prevent and improve resident behaviors;
·Cooking meals and following a menu to meet specific diet requirements for individual residents. Providing water and snacks between meals. Doing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, and dining room area after meals;
·Housekeeping activities such as making and changing beds, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, laundry, cleaning bathrooms and bedrooms, windows, etc;
·Assisting residents in taking their medications;
·Assisting residents with regular toileting including incontinence care if needed;
·Keeping records, charting, medications, and recording resident activities;
·Keeping work and resident areas safe, orderly and clear of obstacles;
·Must have regular, reliable, attendance in performance of essential job functions;
·Engaging residents in daily activities.
