      Job Description


      Our Lead Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicles and mechanical equipment used in airport operations. This role involves supervising a team of mechanics, allocating work assignments, and ensuring timely and efficient completion of maintenance tasks. You will troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, ensure adherence to safety standards, and provide expert guidance on repairs and servicing. Additionally, you are responsible for maintaining inventory of parts and tools, training and mentoring staff, and collaborating with other departments to support operational needs.

      • Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics and technicians in maintaining and repairing vehicles and equipment
      • Oversee the diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues in ground support equipment and vehicles
      • Assign repair work to mechanics, ensuring an efficient distribution of tasks
      • Conduct quality inspections on completed repair and maintenance work
      • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex mechanical repairs
      • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are carried out in compliance with safety standards and regulations
      • Train and mentor junior mechanics and technicians in repair techniques and best practices
      • Manage the inventory of parts and tools, ordering supplies as needed
      • You have a great attention to detail
      • You enjoy working with a team or individually to accomplish your tasks
      • Like to build long term relationships with your customers
      • Physical activity may include:
      • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
      • Ability to lift 70 pounds or more
      • Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environment
      • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

      Qualifications

      • Minimum age of 18 years old
      • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents
      • 5 years of experience as a mechanic, with a strong background in vehicle and equipment maintenance, preferably in an airport or similar industrial setting
      • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a mechanical maintenance environment
      • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
      • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
      • Ability to mentor and train staff in mechanical maintenance techniques
      • Flexibility to work in different shifts and respond to emergency maintenance needs
      • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a variety of maintenance vehicles and equipment
      • Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tablets
      • Ability to pass a drug screen
      • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
