Ensure the department maintains compliance with applicable federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of current institutional, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures. Review, verify, investigate, trouble shoot and resolve complex aid application issues related to student eligibility for aid,
Complete ISIR review, Verification, MN State programs review, ISRS tracking edit processing, financial aid status letters and award offers.
Serve as point of contact for matters that pertain to financial aid processing.
Assist with setup of financial aid processing components and monitor system settings to ensure systems are performing as expected, required documents are collected, and awards are calculated correctly. This includes resolving complex system set up issues with ISRS, eServices, ImageNow, COD, NSLDS, or MN Office of Higher Education.
Create and maintain communications sent from the Financial Aid Office such as financial aid status letters, award offers and financial aid forms, and web page content.
Assist with preparing year end reports, audits and perform reporting such as monthly reconciliation of state and federal aid programs.
Provide leadership and guidance to staff and work study students when applicable, by serving as the resource specialist for financial aid.
Serve as the primary point of contact for financial aid on escalated student issues.
Advise, investigate, problem solve and resolve questions and issues from prospective, current and previous students, parents, faculty, staff, other third parties and the public.
Assist with creating, maintaining and presenting material for outreach activities and communication campaigns from the Financial Aid Office.
Promote and record all outside scholarships and SCC Foundations scholarships.
Assist SCC Foundation in the selection process for Foundation scholarships as well as adding scholarship amounts to student records and monitoring eligibility.
Verify eligibility such as credit level, GPA and other applicable requirements prior to payment of scholarship.
Reconcile scholarship awards with Foundation Office and Business Office.
Associates degree and a minimum of four years of professional-level experience with detailed knowledge of financial rules and regulations, project management, and the ability to interpret and understand new rules, regulations, and statutes.
Experience providing work direction or lead work to others
Intercultural competency and experience working with student and families from diverse backgrounds
Strong ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Knowledge of financial aid rules and regulations or other experience implementing complex regulations.
Demonstrated experience with learning new technology to create efficiencies in a process or service
Bachelor’s Degree
Three or more years of experience working in a financial aid office
Experience with financial literacy programs
Experience using ISRS ImageNow, COD, NSLDS, FAA Access to CPS
Multilingual (spoken and written)
Experience creating and presenting handouts/presentations/workshops to various audiences

The primary purpose of this position is to work alongside the Director of Financial Aid to support the management of day to day operations of the financial aid department by ensuring accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of student aid that is in compliance with federal, state and other relevant regulations. This position is responsible for providing direction to staff, and advising students and families through all stages of the financial aid process, while providing high quality customer service. This position requires in-depth knowledge of State and Federal regulations. This position will assist with outreach efforts to support enrollment and retention objectives.
