      Utah Valley University is seeking a skilled and experienced Locksmith Lead to oversee the operations of its Locksmith Department. This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage daily workflows, supervise a team of locksmith professionals, and play a key role in maintaining the safety and security of campus facilities. The Locksmith Lead will take an active role in both hands-on work and strategic planning, including the installation, repair, and servicing of locks and electronic access systems, while evaluating and addressing the evolving security needs of the university.

      Working closely with the Campus Services Director and Structural Superintendent, this position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to UVU’s mission of creating a safe and functional environment for students, faculty, and staff.       • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Locksmith Department which includes prioritizing and assigning daily work orders and supervising the locksmith shop and its employees.
      • Leads and participates in the repair, installation and servicing of locks, electronic access equipment and related hardware.
      • Provides estimates for labor and materials as needed.
      • Monitors locksmith shop expenditures to ensure purchases are within budget.
      • Ensures all locksmith jobs are compliant with state, local and federal laws. Inspects work of locksmiths and contractors for quality of work and compliance with state, local and federal laws.
      • Trains employees in basic and advanced locksmithing skills.
      • Other duties as assigned.
      Five years locksmith experience, including experience with electronic access systems; OR Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education related to the Summary of Responsibilities.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      Seven years of locksmith experience, including experience with electronic access systems and one year of lead experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education related to the Summary of Responsibilities.

      Licenses/Certifications:
      Must have a valid driver's license.Knowledge
      • Knowledge of the techniques for repairing, installing and servicing locks and related hardware.
      • Knowledge of campus wide electronic access systems.
      • Knowledge of Lenel software preferred.
      • Knowledge of Sargent hardware and keying systems preferred.
      • Knowledge of low voltage power supplies, relays and wire circuits.
      Skills
      • Must have strong leadership skills.
      • Skill in repairing, installing and servicing locks and related hardware.
      • Skill in leading the work of others.
      • Skill in creating job estimates for customers and Facilities Management.
      • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
      Abilities
      • Ability to maintain a good relationship with general public, faculty and staff.
      • Ability to give and instruct specific work details to other employees.
      • Ability to make sound decisions and to train others.
      • Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions.
      • Ability to function with dexterity and safety.
      • Ability to communicate through various electronic methods, as well as create reports and documents electronically.
