      The Lead Medical Assistant is required to perform all duties of the Medical Assistant and functions as the resource contact to medical staff. This position will act as a liaison between management and staff. The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for keeping managers apprised of early personnel issues and will provide support as needed.

      Lead Medical Assistant Required Skills and Experience:

      • High School Diploma/ GED equivalent
      • 1 year of leadership experience preferred
      • 3 years of healthcare experience preferred
      • Frequent travel between office locations may be required
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, other employees, and the public
      • Knowledge about health insurance, pre-authorization, insurance verification, medical terminology, CPT codes and ICD-9 codes preferred
      • Must have excellent customer service skills
      • Able to work in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
      • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and maintain professionalism at all times
      • Must have a team mentality, flexibility and willingness to learn
      • The ability to communicate effectively, multi-task and work under pressure is the key to success in this position, which also requires attention to detail and a commitment to achieving consistent customer satisfaction.
      • The ability to uphold HIPAA compliance is mandatory.
      • Must exercise good judgment and discretion
      • Technologically savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office products including:
      • Google Workspace
      • Word
      • Excel

      Lead Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

      • Set a positive example and be the primary point of contact for MA staff
      • Anticipate and plan for the needs of physician
      • Train new staff members as well as the ability to effectively and thoroughly train staff on new procedures
      • Assist with the interview process of new MA’s
      • Assist with staff scheduling needs; making sure there is coverage when needed
      • Oversee medical supply inventory.
      • Delegate ordering needs and/or order supplies as needed
      • Assist in yearly MA evaluations/review
      • Oversee the cleanliness and functionality of medical office equipment
      • Perform all MA job functions

The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, fluids, or tissues as well as cleaning solvents and other chemicals. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
