- NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services assistant or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3 leadership, Edward Jenner programme or equivalent leadership course
- GPhC recognised accuracy checking dispensing assistant course (ACDA) or willing to undertake it.
- HEE Medicines Optimisation course (POD Assessment and Transcribing modules) or equivalent.
- Practice Supervisor course or practicing Workplace Training Supervisor (WTS)
- Substantial practical work experience and knowledge relating to the procedures and provision of a hospital pharmacy dispensing and ward service.
- Knowledge and experience of managing stock control
- To have good IT skills using Microsoft Office package
- Experience in staff supervision, training or line management.
- Knowledge of EPIC system
- Knowledge and/or experience of working with an automated dispensing robot at a super user/expert level
- Knowledge and experience of error monitoring processes
- Experience in Audit and/or Quality Improvement (QI) projects
- Be able to provide and receive routine information to inform work colleagues, patients/carer's that may require tact and persuasion, where there may be barriers to understanding
- Proven communication skills
- Be able to make judgments involving facts or situations, some requiring analysis
- Be able to make sound judgments on how to fulfill urgent orders
- Proven skills in organising, supervising and training staff
- To possess highly developed physical skills in relation to accuracy
- Be able to participate in frequent moderate physical effort for several short periods
- Be able to sit for data input and stand for dispensing
- To be able to move pharmaceutical goods
- Be able to concentrate for extended periods with a predictable work pattern

- Ability to work as part of a diverse team and in a busy environment

The post holder will work as part of the Clinical Services team in the comprehensive and efficient stock management and supply of medicines.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake medicines management duties such transcribing and Patient's Own Drugs (POD) checks with the guidance of a registered pharmacy technician.
The post holder will carry out accuracy checks on designed/screened items to support ward-based relabelling for discharge, following departmental standard operating procedures.
The post holder will manage the Pharmacy Returns Officer and oversee/supervise the day-to-day workload and rotation of the Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistants (MMPAs) across the Trust.
The post holder will mentor and support training of junior and senior pharmacy support workers and other members of staff as deemed appropriate by the chief pharmacy technician - clinical services.
The post holder will review and manage the stock management and returns from wards.

To liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient transfer of clinical and medicines management issues.
