- Demonstrate strong leadership by overseeing the team's daily operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes efficiency and accuracy in handling unique transactions/ special bonuses.
- Receives documents pertaining to garnishment of active duty and reserve member’s pay issued by the state courts for payment of child support, alimony, and/or commercial debts.
- Provide guidance and support to team members in navigating the intricacies of diverse case scenarios, facilitating effective communication within the team and with relevant stakeholders.
- Analyzes, examines, and evaluates IRS tax levies, computes amount to be withheld each month from member’s pay by using statement of personal exemptions, military pay account, and internal revenue tax tables.
- Responsible for the meticulous processing of case management cases (CMS) and system-generated cases from the DMPO’s and Overseas Finance Offices, encompassing a wide array of complex correspondence/inquiries concerning active/reserve military pay.
- Act as a key point of contact for escalated issues, troubleshoot challenges, and contribute to the continuous improvement of workflows, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of financial processes and industry best practices.

Pay for first time hires to the Federal Govt will typically be set at step 1 salary for their respective grade level.
This announcement will be used to fill positions at entry grade level of GS-07 with promotion potential at the GS-08, or at the Full Performance Level GS-08. This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Applicants MUST have related financial experience AND/OR a related financial degree (examples include: Finance, Accounting, Management, Actuarial Science, or related), in addition to meeting Office of Personnel Management (OPM) minimum qualification requirements. Substitution of combination of education and experience must still, in conjunction, minimally satisfy the DHA qualification requirement.
To be hired at the GS-07 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as reviewing work for technical adequacy and compliance with established policies and procedures; processing a wide variety of complex military payroll transactions; determining entitlements; examining and verifying all documents for propriety, completeness, and accuracy; running reports to monitor workload and providing technical support on standard procedures to coworkers.
To be hired at the GS-08 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as experience which equipped the applicant with expert-level knowledge of a large body of military pay rules, procedures, and operations sufficient to process pay actions requiring audits, corrections, and adjustments of several interrelated aspects of military pay, and sufficient to provide leadership, training and support to others responsible for this work. Experience must include expert-level knowledge of related payroll systems sufficient to take necessary intervention and bypass of normal automated systems and procedures and resolve issues within the automated systems.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
