      Position: Lead Negotiator & Client Consultant | Division: Procurement Management

      Work Days: Monday - Friday | Hours of Operation: 8:00am – 5:00pm

      Purpose of the Position:

      As an individual contributor, the Lead Negotiator and Client Consultant (LNCC) is tasked to draft, negotiate, and understand contracts of all types, including those that are very complex and high dollar. An LNCC is a highly experienced and trained sourcing and supplier strategy expert. The LNCC will have expertise in nearly all general supply and service contract terms and conditions and will be able to draft unique agreements that may be 100% custom. The LNCC will be able to assemble contracts that are legally compliant and consistent with existing company and regulatory policies. The LNCC will be able to successfully manage, with minimal to no oversight and direction, a demanding workload portfolio containing a wide variety of agreements, to include many enterprise-wide complex and high dollar agreements. The LNCC will ensure that client needs are met or exceeded and that the service the LNCC delivers meets or exceeds client support expectations. The LNCC will be able to interact with and support clients at all levels of the enterprise, to include the C-suite. The LNCC will have excellent collaboration skills and be able to work within teams of various sizes as either a team member or team leader. The LNCC will collaborate with stakeholders across wide varieties of specialties and up to the highest levels of management. The LNCC will be to handle the stresses of working on important and visible assigned projects, to include enterprise-wide, sensitive, and high dollar projects/agreements, as determined and assigned by the LNCC’s supervisor. The LNCC will also be able to lead and/or participate in senior level teams and serve as the procurement thought leader on such teams. The LNCC will act on behalf of the Procurement Director as required.

      Key Accountabilities:

      Contracts:

      • Expertly drafts, manages, and negotiates all types of contracts regardless of complexity, dollar values, and risk levels;
      • Is highly knowledgeable on all types of contracts and contract documents -contracts, amendments, renewals, extensions, MOUs, term sheets, etc.
      • Is a contract expert. LNCC has a high level of knowledge and understanding of contract terms and conditions
      • Is highly capable of developing contracts at any complexity level – applies expert knowledge and skills to ensure that contracts are legally sufficient, structurally appropriate and reasonably risk mitigated
      • Has expert ability to read, understand, and provide summaries of contract terms and conditions both in writing and orally
      • Is an expert at reading and interpreting contracts and developing courses of action to mitigate possible negative outcomes

      Consultations:

      • Manages and is responsible for assigned clients and their portfolio. Provides guidance and sourcing strategies to senior clients on their suppliers, contracts, and needs
      • Acts as an expert advisor to assigned senior clients on important suppliers, the 3rd party marketplace, and supplier related options to solve major business issues
      • Maintains collaborative relationships with senior supplier personnel, senior level clients, and sourcing stakeholders; serves as a “go to” advisor for senior leadership on sourcing and supply chain strategies
      • Serves as a thought leader on sourcing matters and is considered an expert in client service-related matters
      • Involved with identifying and implementing supplier innovations; fosters collaboration with suppliers to better the overall relationship and ROI of executed agreements

      Negotiations:

      • Develops and proposes appropriate negotiation strategies for assigned major contracts, amendments, renewals, and extensions.
      • Acts as a negotiation lead for assigned work or co-leads/supports team projects;
      • Expertly manages multi-disciplinary negotiation/project teams for enterprise initiatives
      • Leads the negotiation of large and complex enterprise contract instruments.
      • Leads the most sensitive and high-level negotiations for the enterprise
      • Manages client and supplier expectations to achieve win-win solution to the degree possible;
      • Meets or exceeds cycle time for the completion of assignments;
      • Able to manage a portfolio of complex and visible contract demands and assignments, to include the work performed by others;

      Sourcing Process:

      • Knowledgeable of and implements company sourcing processes and procedures with minimal support and assistance;
      • Assists in writing, validating, and redefining enterprise policies and procedures
      • Leads work efforts with clients and suppliers on major projects to create documents in support of sourcing process and other requirements.
      • Knowledgeable in managing and improving the deployment and utilization of procurement platforms,
      • Serves as a procurement expert in utilizing procurement’s contracts platform and the processes that support it
      • Conducts expert research to fulfill unique, highly-visible sourcing requests; continuously improves job knowledge expertise in anticipation of meeting future needs/requirements;
      • Works with senior stakeholders to ensure the needs of the business are sufficiently covered and adequately articulated; responsible for delivering client satisfaction for delivered services;
      • Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned
      • Demonstrates initiative and professional/command presence to lead and/or support what needs to be done to advance the needs of Procurement in support of enterprise goals and objectives
      • Supports and implements enterprise supplier diversity, “green”, and other socio-economic programs and policies, especially those involving third parties


      Competencies and Skills:

      • Is an expert, highly skilled and experienced contracts negotiator who is highly ethical, and works with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism
      • Has considerable experience with Procurement Services Management systems
      • Highly skilled in analyzing Procurement service management metrics to proactively improve performance, reduce costs and exceed client delivery satisfaction
      • Has high levels of knowledge across a broad range of Procurement concepts and can implement and/or articulate the concepts to support work performed,
      • Provides strong project, organizational, and banking services experience and knowledge
      • Has good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
      • Has strong professionalism and diplomacy attributes; acts as a team player and team leader as required.
      • Creates a positive teaming environment with experienced customer and supplier personnel
      • Is excellent with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other common software packages
      • Capable of prioritizing and planning work activities and uses time efficiently

      Work Experience Requirements:

      • 10 -20 years of procurement experience, preferably within banking and financial services

      • Experienced in leading and working within large and small, multi-functional teams

      • Able to direct and manage substantial contract negotiations

      • Has large, complex enterprise contract administration and implementation experience

      • Has project management experience – especially with technology projects

      Education Requirements:

      • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree

      • Minimum Experience: 8 - 10 years of experience required

      • Field of Expertise: Direct contract negotiations, creation, and administration

      • Preferred Field of Expertise: Procurement, Logistics, Legal, Supply Chain, Project/Program Management, and 3rd party supplier management

      Other Qualifications:

      • Preferred Education: JD or Master’s Degree

      • Procurement Certifications Preferred: CPM, CPP, and CPCM, or other equivalent certifications

      • Preferred Experience: 15+ years or more preferred

      Other Requirements:

      • May need to travel periodically – visit suppliers, training, professional conferences

      • Some weekend and holiday work may be required

      • Experience with the Coupa procurement system and/or some like procurement platform
