      Job description

      Job responsibilities

One of our most powerful recent success stories involved a patient whose recovery was transformed by a walking football initiative. This patient, a passionate football fan before his injury, was struggling to re-engage with life. Demonstrating the kind of creativity we truly value, an Occupational Therapist on the team explored alternative therapeutic options. They connected with the York City FC Foundation, which offers walking football sessions nearby. The result? The patient experienced renewed motivation, improved balance and coordination, and — most importantly — a vital reconnection to his community.

This is the kind of life-changing impact you can help make happen every day.

As Lead Occupational Therapist, your vision and clinical expertise will shape how we deliver rehabilitation, embedding truly individualised care that embraces each person’s values, abilities, and aspirations. You’ll lead by example, foster continuous professional growth, and contribute to a culture of innovation, accountability, and compassion.

If you're ready to lead a forward-thinking Occupational Therapy service that changes lives through creativity, compassion and clinical excellence, APPLY NOW!

      What you'll be working:

Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

      What you'll be doing:

      • Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy team, ensuring effective delivery of the highly specialist Occupational Therapy service
      • Work as an autonomous practitioner to plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload
      • Work closely with patients and their family/carers to encourage participation in the therapeutic process
      • Provide supervision, teaching, and appraisal for junior occupational therapists, assistants, students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
      • Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service
      • Develop Occupational therapy Treatment programmes in collaboration with patients, carers and other involved professionals (e.g. occupational therapy assistants, support workers) to be carried out as appropriate
      • Participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents
      • Ensure a high level of communication with internal and external stakeholders
      • Participate in the process of positively supporting and inspiring colleagues within the service to improve standards and quality and to develop professional practice
      • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights

      What to look forward to:

      • Birthday off

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
