How will you make an impact
The Production Lead is responsible for assigned production lines and the people assigned
to the lines. Accountable for performance in safety, quality, and productivity for the lines
and people assigned. Accountable for the development of operator skill base through
formal training program and continuous coaching. Responsible for adherence to Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) regulations/ Quality System Regulation (QSR) guidelines,
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements and current Good
Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Responsible for directing and coordinating the
production associates in their area of responsibility.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Educate, train, and coach employees in the safe and correct performance of
assigned duties.
Ensure the proper performance of procedures associated with manufacturing.
Organize and control production in their assigned area with a constant goal of
increasing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Meet production goals by efficiently delegating tasks and providing job direction.
Ensure production lines are staffed with properly trained associates.
Assist production associates with quality assurance questions and concerns Create
and maintain a safe work environment by engaging the associates in reporting potential safety hazards, support of the EH&S guidelines and continual emphasis
on safe work habits and working conditions.
Ensure the performance of assigned lines is visible through pacing boards and
raise issues as required.
Train and coach on 5S, providing feedback using 5S audit form. Develop a
Gemba walk and perform regularly to ensure shop floor control. Use results to
develop training and coaching opportunities.
Use Leader Standard Work to focus on Lean Management, visual controls to
monitor actual versus expected, and maintain daily accountability to drive
improvement activities.
Lead PPI solo teams to investigate and remedy, when possible, production
failures.
Provide input for performance evaluations. Support supervisor in daily activities
when required. Notify supervisor of personnel problems as they arise.
Coordinate efforts to help other departments when necessary.
Operate machinery when needed and adjust when necessary. Notify maintenance
when equipment is not operating to standard.
Handle packaged animal blood and, if necessary, human blood.
Required level of experience:
PC literate
Experience in a manufacturing environment / process
Experience in machine operation
An understanding of quality systems
Experience in controlling manufacturing schedules
Line management experience
Consistent track record of achieving stretch targets
Continuous improvement tools & techniques
HOW WILL YOU GET HERE?
Education
High School Diploma required.Experience
· Two (2) years of related laboratory experience equired.
· 2 years college course work in Biotechnology, Sciences, or other technical field Preferred
· Current Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
· Experience with PPI Business System preferred.
· Experience with New Product Introductions and being part of project teams preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Knowledge of general laboratory procedures and practices.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
· Ability to perform routine tasks accurately, efficiently, and according to schedules as assigned.
· Able to efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
· Ability to train other lower-level staff in production procedures.
· Ability to solve problems that may come up in the department, troubleshoot, and think critically.
Lift up to 50 lbs. Stand for sustained periods of time. Walk short distances, maneuvering
self around machinery and co-workers. Ability to see in color. Arrive to work on time
and work during scheduled hours, working additional overtime as needed. Follow all
written procedures. Report discrepancies in procedures (SOP’s, DHR’s etc.) to the Area
Supervisor. Maintain good personal hygiene. Wear designated uniform maintained in
good condition. Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Refer to job specific Job Safety Analysis. Perform all work activities in a safe manner. Listen to, follow and
relay written and verbal instructions in English.

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $24.00–$34.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
