      The Team: We are looking for a motivated, challenge seeking, innovative thinker to join the Dolls Licensed and American Girl Packaging team. Our products range from small dolls to fashion dolls to high end large dolls, play sets and innovation items. We work with an equally passionate cross functional team that spans the globe with our international partners, making our design led toy company of Mattel one of the best in the industry.       Job Description

      The Opportunity: The Dolls Packaging and Omnichannel Creative team is a group of passionate and inspired designers with the goal of creating outstanding packaging and creative assets for the best toys on earth! The Lead Packaging Designer will focus on creating new and innovative packaging, utilizing research, and understanding consumer trends and the ever-changing retail landscape.

      What Your Impact Will Be:

      The Business

      • You have a precise understanding of the packaging development process
        • Understand the value of ideation sketches, rough concepts, proof of concept and production
        • Have a well-rounded understanding of the toy industry, especially the dolls category
      • You are a strategic design thinker:
        • Able to understand strategy and execute on the design vision
        • Capable of challenging the status quo
        • Bring a fresh POV with innovative design thinking
        • Able to create visual design language and communication
      • You are an excellent communicator:
        • Executive presence and the ability to present to various audiences
        • Effectively communicate product strategy and features through package design and communication
        • Partner with E-comm, Marketing and Brand teams to help create assets for an omnichannel approach to brand engagement
      • You are a collaborator:
      • Build a consensus among team members
      • High level of personal accountability
      • Collaborate with copywriters & engineers to create cohesive packaging/branding
      • Partner with product design & marketing counterparts to ensure package delivers on strategy
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Nimble Multi-tasker:
        • Able to pivot on projects and strategy when business necessitates
        • Can manage multiple projects in various stages of development while staying on track of schedules
        • Can maximize your global design team and internal/external resources

      Qualifications

      What We’re Looking For:

      • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
      • 6 years+ experience in Graphic Design or similar field
      • Self-motivated, creative thinker with a passion for learning
      • Ability to understand strategy, insights, and trends to inform design decisions
      • A creative problem-solver and solution-seeker
      • A collaborative and communicative team player who enjoys branding and creative vision
      • Ability to effectively communicate design ideas and concepts
      • Can work autonomously and collaboratively
      • Ability to project manage, set priorities and execute ate a high level
      • Excellent computer skills: Adobe Suite and relevant design rendering and presentation software

      The annual base salary range for this position is between $94,400 and $133,000.
      **This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
