      The Lead Remediation Project Specialist will see that lead based paint abatements are assessed and completed in a manner that reduces lead poisoning risks through proper design, construction, and clearance. The Lead Remediation Project Specialist will work with the contractors, the home occupants, and other staff to see that abatements are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.

      Duties & Responsibilities:
      • Conduct lead-based paint inspections of target housing and child-occupied facilities that measure the concentration of lead in paint on a surface-by-surface basis.
      • Conduct soil and dust abatement clearance sampling following procedures in Texas Environmental Lead Reduction Rules.
      • Complete a written inspection report as described in the Texas Environmental Lead Reduction Rules.
      • Communicate with occupants and owners to assure they are aware of the recommended abatement activities.
      • Coordinate with other staff members and the Abatement Contractor to relocate. (when applicable) the occupants to assure their safety during the abatement process.
      • Notify laboratory when clearance testing is required. Review test results prior to occupant's reentry into the home or facility.
      • Prepare reports of daily activities and mileage when required.

      Education:
      • High school diploma or equivalent

      Licensure:
      • Must be able to obtain a Texas Lead Inspector certification within 6 months of hire.

      Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
      • Full-Time
      • Monday – Friday | 8 am – 5 pm
      • Other days and hours as necessary.

      Work Environment:
      • This position operates in field environment 80% of the time and 20% in a professional office environment.
      • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

      Physical Demands:
      • This is a largely active role, and some duties may require bending and standing for periods at a time.
