  Mozal, SA is a benchmark for mega-projects in developing countries; located in Maputo Province, Mozal produces high-quality, primary aluminium for the domestic and export markets.

  ABOUT THE ROLE:

  This role is a permanent full-time position.

  As the Lead Safety & ATW , you will be responsible for the development, governance and continuous improvement of Mozal’s safety; management of standards, procedures, tools and programs to enable the operations to effectively manage safety risk; provides specialist & strategic support to operations to ensure the Safety Programs and Management Systems adhere to internal standards, regulatory & operational requirements;

  L ead the execution of Safety and Risk stewardship assurance of activities that the HSERQ function is accountable for, across the operation and projects located within Mozal.

  Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Lead the ATW team(s) across site;

  • Conduct assurance on the effectiveness of the ATW process in execution;

  • Improve the ATW system, process and infrastructure across site;

  • Manage HSERQ campaigns across Mozal;

  • Prepare, coordinate and improve the HSERS safety reviews;

  • Coach employees on safe execution of work in particular HIRA and behavioural safety culture enhancement initiatives;

  • Coordinate, facilitate and improve field leadership activities for Department and Organization;

  • Co-ordinate, support and attend HSERQ committee meetings;

  • Coordinate and improve HSE Representative committee meetings across site, including the executive committee meeting ;

  • Attend HSERS meetings with HSERS Manager;

  • Support environment, health and hygiene risk and exposure controls with regards to assurance activities and solutions;

  • Coordinate and conduct the integrated first line assurance program for Safety, ATW and Risk, ISO45001, ISO 9001 audits (internal and external );

  • Coordinate site second and third line HSERQ assurance activities;

  • Execute ISO45001, ISO 9001 and Safety systems’ management reviews;

  • Manage incident investigations and review incident reports.

  ABOUT YOU:

  You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Specialist knowledge of HSERQ requirements relevant to smelting;

  • Minimum eight years of experience in the field of industrial HSERQ and/or in a leadership role;

  • Fluent in Portuguese and English.

  Qualifications for this role are:

  • Technical Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Risk or Safety; Relevant professional registration is advantageous;

  • A safety qualification such as NEBOSH will be advantageous .
