Job Description

- 21 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Currently possess a Texas Department of Public Safety Level 3 Security Officer Commission. If not Commissioned at time of hire, must earn a Commissioned Security Officer License within the first 45 days of employment.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Turn in all required paperwork at established deadlines.
- Manage schedules and payroll for Security Support staff, Security contract companies, off-duty law enforcement, LEO traffic control units.
- Systems:
- Monitor/manage Security needs in the campus calendar and schedule appropriate security coverage for events.
- Proficient in access control management and oversee door schedules in accordance with event timing and access for staff and volunteers.
- Tasked with managing their department’s budget by the Campus Operations Director
- Responsible for posting Security Support job requisition.
- Responsible for reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and ultimately making the decision to hire a candidate or not.
- Build an EVW team to support their campuses needs and to fill staffing gaps (such as events like Community Nights, Gateway Students, Conferences, and Weekend Services).
- Expected to cover last-minute events, shift drops from EVW or contractors, emergency coverage, or shifts not picked up even after appropriate attempts to find coverage Emergency/last minute coverage for events such as property damage, inclement weather, loss of power, fire watch.
- On-Call outside of working hours. OCO and DOC were set up/implemented to mitigate this.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to relate and communicate with the public, staff, volunteers, and local law enforcement officials.
- Resourceful – knows how to address inquiries and has the ability to direct to the proper authority.
- Maintain communication with supervisors, pastoral staff, group leaders, staff, volunteers, members, and guests.
- Responsible for corrective/coaching conversations with Event Wage employees as well as security contractors.
- Coordinate with ministries that hosts events and ensure proper communication is in place prior to the event between Security and the ministry to understand and work through any needs and issues as they arise during the planning stage.
- Attend various meetings on behalf of their department to provide a unique (safety/security) perspective.
Summary of Position
The Lead Security Officer is responsible for providing security leadership at the campus. Requires full knowledge of Gateway Church’s ministries, processes, and policies to effectively create a culture that’s consistent with Gateway DNA. This position leads the campus Security team as directed by the Campus Operations Director and is responsible for ensuring the campus Safety Services team attends all required training and is properly equipped to fulfil their duties. Understanding the relational connection between the campus, support ministries, and central Safety Services is critical. A high degree of organizational, leadership, and communication skills are required to steward department budget, staff, and volunteers. This person will collaborate with Central Safety Services and the Campus Operations Director to support weekly events on campus and Conferences and other events as needed.
