      Job summary

      An exciting acting up opportunity has arisen to join the Data Standards Team as a Data Standards Lead in Urgent and Emergency Care. This position would suit a member of staff who is looking to develop their career in Data Standards and who has an interest in Urgent and Emergency Care within NHS Wales. The post holder will be involved in the development of standards in the following areas:

      • Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

      • Urgent Primary Care (UPC)/ Out of Hours

      • Welsh Emergency Care Data Set (WECDS)

      • NHS 111 Wales

      • Ambulance data

      Main duties of the job

      The Lead Specialist will be responsible for assessing the data standards required to support effective analysis of data from operational and management information systems. The post holder will be responsible for writing reports and presenting this information at local and national meetings. They will engage with a broad range of stakeholders to determine their information requirement and the required data standards to deliver the requirement. They will liaise across the Information Services teams, ensuring that changes are communicated, and their impact assessed both on local and national data processing procedures.

      The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

      • Good knowledge of legislation relating to data protection and the release of confidential information.

      Desirable

      • Registered with a relevant informatics professional body
      • PRINCE 2 Practitioner
      • Knowledge of the NHS Wales Information Governance process
      • Knowledge of developing and implementing new information standards.

      Experience

      Essential

      • Experience of working across organisations and varying levels of seniority.
      • Experience of literature review with an ability to make recommendations based on the evidence available.
      • Experience of planning and organising meetings which involve many stakeholders.
      • Experience of line managing staff.

      Desirable

      • Understanding of the organisational structure of NHS Wales.
      • Understanding of the Welsh Assembly Branches.
