      Lead Surgical Care Practitioner – Robotic Lead (All specialties exposure, orthopaedics, Laparoscopic, Gynae, Urology, General)

      Bupa Cromwell Hospital - SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)

      Salary: Dependant on experience

      Monday to Sunday

      Full time 37.5 hours p/w

      Various Shift patterns

      Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 5 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

      Role Overview

      The SCP will be expected to undertake the role of SFA in addition to their SCP role. The main purpose of this clinical role is to assist the Consultant Surgeons who carry out Robotic Surgical Lists in the operating theatre as the robotic surgical assistant. The SCP will act as the patient side first surgical assistant in all robotic procedures

      • In partnership with members of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will develop, implement, and evaluate a seamless robotic surgical service, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care. Being part of this specialist team, the SCP must develop towards demonstrating a high level of expertise within the specialist service, providing specialist advice, education, clinical care and support to health care professionals and patients
      • To be a lead specialist and to practice autonomously in the absence of medical staff e.g., final wound closure following surgery
      • Manage a team of SCPs and SFA across specialties.
      • Key part in developing the robotic service at Cromwell in line with organisational strategy
      • To use specialist knowledge and skills to integrate assessment findings, to plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care for own caseload, which is delegated to them e.g., clinician-led clinics against agreed protocols
      • To act as a member of the extended surgical team, to perform surgical interventions, pre-operative and post-operative care under the direction and supervision of a Consultant Surgeon and according to departmental protocols and procedures

      What you’ll bring:

      • ODP Level 3 NVQ or Diploma in Perioperative Practice
      • HPC registration
      • RCS Basic Surgical Skills Course
      • SCP training course completed
      • ENB 176/183/182 or equivalent
      • Teaching/assessing qualification – ENB 998 or equivalent
      • Current experience as SFA/ASP
