      UCT is looking for a talented Lead Test Technician to join us in Austin, TX! Responsible for leading a group of Test Technicians and for performing functional test of custom electro-mechanical equipment.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to assemble, set-up, test and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical automation systems and machines, developmental or operational electrical machinery, and electrical control equipment and circuitry.
      • Analyzes and interprets blueprints, data, manuals and other media to determine applicable specifications, inspection and testing requirements. Contributes to yield improvement according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles.
      • Documents and communicates actions, irregularities and continuing needs. Diagnoses the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction/failure of operative equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
      • Provides test equipment and set-up requirements for quotes and new product introduction analysis or development. Communicates to management and customer a test strategy which provides high yield finished products.
      • Performs inspection, regulation, test, troubleshooting and minor repair to ensure products meet required performance standards.
      • Communicates solutions of complex problems or issues to management, technical support and customers.
      • Writes and incorporate ECR’s/ECO’s for test procedures.
      • Provides leadership and direction to other technicians within the assigned department or facility. Manages facility work plans, metrics and initiatives.
      • Offers test performance feedback and hardware or software improvements or maintenance to a team of technicians.
      • Takes ownership for business objectives including delivery, productivity, materials, costs, output, cycle time and quality.
      • Initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
      • Performs other duties as required.

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

        • Experience with System Test or Product Assembly environment.
        • Ability to perform diagnostic analysis of test hardware and software.
        • Prior experience developing test procedures and work instructions.
        • Detail oriented with the strong problem solving skills.
        • Strong understanding of troubleshooting and analysis down to the component level.
        • Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
        • Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, motivation, and willingness to work proactively, either independently or within a team.
        • Ability to work extended or non-standard work scheduled to meet specific personal training, department and production needs.
        • Proficient in software installation and diagnostic applications.
        • Expert level computer skills.
        • Knowledge of software files, data table and macros.

        Educational/Certification Requirement:

        • Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Automation or equivalent work experience.

        Work Experience:

        • 6+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Test Environment with some experience in a leadership role

        Environmental Exposure:

        • Required to have visual acuity to perform assigned tasks.
        • Ability to sit for sustained periods of time.
        • Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, and exposure to chemicals and debris.
        • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable
