      Job Summary: The Lead Welder, organizes, manages, and completes welding repairs, reconditioning, services, and new fabrications on equipment and components.

      Essential Functions:

      • Personally model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Statement
      • Manages the performance of repair welds on equipment and components
      • Inspects arc welding, air arc, gas welding, and cutting done by Welders
      • Inspects and approves the fabrication of new components from shop drawings and/or blueprints
      • Works as a member of a team to provide excellent technical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals
      • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
      • Prepares and completes all job-related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete a job
      • Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications
      • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order
      • Performs and completes all tasks with no supervision
      • Provides significant task and behavior-oriented supervision to other Welders
      • Defines repair time frames per job and ensures completion
      • Acts on behalf of the supervisor for defined periods of time and defined tasks; frequently called upon by the supervisor to lead others in the accomplishment of tasks by directing and managing on-site resources
      • Provides assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other Welders
      • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
      • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
      • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
      • Performs other duties as assigned

      • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices
      • Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
      • Knowledge of current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems

      • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding
      • Ability to be self-starting, self-motivated, and be a leader
      • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
      • Ability to read, write, and understand information
      • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

      Education and Experience:

      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Five to eight years of Welding, Machining, and Fabrication experience

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      • None

      Travel:

      • Up to 10% travel may be required
