The L eadership and Development (L&D) V endor Consultant is responsible for ensuring the planning, development, and implementation of L&D projects are tracked in SWA University’s E nterprise P roject M anagement S ystem . Th is role collaborates with vendors, Director Strategic Planning and o ther Stakeholders to ensure L&D project management standards and procedures related to the L&D portfolio. The L&D Vendor Consultant is a resourceful problem-solver and skilled c ommunicator who is ready to be a champion for excellence in the development of training programs for all workgroups at Southwest Airlines.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

      Responsibilities
      • Collaborate with L&D Senior Leaders to ensure their portfolio(s) align with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives as set by L&D Director.
      • Oversee L&D project governance, developing portfolio management plans and prioritizing projects within individual POD portfolios.
      • Continuously analyze and monitor performance of POD portfolio components and report on progress to ensure adequate resource allocation and deliverable commitments.
      • Collaborate with L&D Senior Leaders to balance portfolio(s) and identify and help mitigate portfolio risk due to resource allocations, process flow interruptions, and project delays.
      • Foster appropriate portfolio stakeholder engagement, managing conflicting interests and understanding the expectations and needs of portfolio project stakeholders.
      • Assist L&D Team with organizational alignment, risk assessment, and critical initiatives.
      • Work with L&D Senior Leaders to ensure projects deliver on business objectives and value, while managing scope, timeline, budget, and risk.
      • Develop and maintain L&D portfolio reporting on project status, project efforts, time to development, and budget vs. actual.
      • Manage EPMS’s L&D functions, including but not limited to system maintenance (through technology partnership), feature upgrades, and reporting.
      • Support the measurement of multiple strategic and cross functional opportunities and programs.
      • Contribute to departmental planning, AOP, MYP activities and Leadership strategy sessions.
      • Contribute to management of effective financial alignment, budget forecasting, and variance analysis for SWA U L&D initiatives.
      • Organize the Jira Advisory Board (JAB) with representatives from each Pod to review how the tool is being used, prioritize requested functionalities, communicate decisions to the Pods at large, coordinate with LACE team to request functionalities, update templates, and provide SME support to non JAB members
      • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leader.

      • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
      • Skilled at using relevant project management work tools including leveraging storyboarding and PowerPoint to create clean and effective presentations
      • Skilled in written and verbal communication including the ability to communicate complex issues in a structured and concise manner
      • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
      • Ability to identify and mitigate risks and recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
      • Ability to apply critical thinking analysis to solve complex problems related to strategy development or project delivery
      • Ability to anticipate and/or ask the right questions to gather information, listens intently, articulates back and clarifies while suspending judgement
      • Ability to use influence without authority to respectfully push back and have critical conversations with stakeholders and leaders.
      • Ability to build trust and collaborative relationships to gain buy in for recommendations
      Education
      • Required: High School Diploma or GED

      Experience
      • Advanced-level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:
        • Project Portfolio Management (PPM / PfMP)
        • Workflow/project management tools (JIRA, ASANA, etc.)
        • Building trust and relationships with varying levels of Employees & Sr Leadership
        • Consulting and management
        • Partnering with internal and external teams
      • Preferred: Microsoft Office Experience

      Licensing/Certification

      Physical Abilities
      • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
      • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
      • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

      Other Qualifications
      • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
      • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
      • Must be at least 18 years of age
      • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

      Pay & Benefits:


      Competitive market salary from $97,750 per year* to $108,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
