- The role is specifically within a product legal team that is responsible for legal matters related to product development and product servicing.
- The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through staff supervised, over periods of 3 months to a year.
- Specialist legal role which may have legal advisors reporting to it.
- Represents OMLACSA on litigation matters related to product development and servicing
- Accumulates all pertinent facts, identifies relevant issues, researches applicable legal principles & applies them to the facts.
- Provides legal opinions/comments on legislation.
- Drafts contracts and Product related documentation such policy contracts, application forms, binder agreements, administration agreement and quotes.
- Assesses environment, picks up on trends & patterns & makes recommendations.
- Networks with industry bodies.
- Assists with shaping and influencing other stakeholders/regulators.
- Writes financial planning circulars, works on projects, conducts training sessions.
- Signs off marketing material and client communications.
- As a specialist, accumulates all pertinent facts, identifies relevant issues, researches applicable legal principles and applies them to the facts.
- Drafts contracts (this includes policy contracts, application forms, binder agreements, administration agreement and quotes).
- Assesses context, picks up on trends and/or patterns and makes recommendations.
- Provides legal opinions/comments on legislation.
- Writes circulars, works on projects, conducts training sessions.
- Signs off marketing material and client communications.
- Networks with industry bodies.
- Assists with shaping and influencing other stakeholders/regulators.
- Individually accountable for staff time, tasks and output quality, over periods of 3 months to a year.
- Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
- Plans & assigns work over periods of 3 months to a year.
- Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
- Creates a climate for optimal performance.
- Manages performance.
- Selects potential staff to sustain customer/client service delivery.
- LLB or equivalent plus CFP qualification
- 6 years post qualification experience
- Financial Services Industry experience essential.
- Product Development and Product Servicing experience advantageous
- Certified Financial Planning or similar industry qualification would be advantageous.
