What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide legal, technical, and administrative support to the Chief and Deputy Legal Officers
- Monitor and update legal cases, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is accurate
- Draft, proofread, and transmit correspondence and legal documents as directed
- Assist with public records requests and maintain compliance with retention requirements
- Analyze workflow processes to improve efficiency in legal tasks and disclosures
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in a legal environment or one year as a Legal Assistant 2
- Two-year degree in Legal Secretary Studies, Paralegal Studies, or related field plus two years of legal office experience
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Strong technology skills for drafting, proofreading, and data collection
- Candidates may be required to demonstrate skills in keyboarding, filing, and office equipment use through agency-specific testing
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of the Washington K-12 educational system
- Experience with administrative or civil litigation
- Familiarity with responding to public records requests
- Background in providing legal support within a governmental setting
- Ability to effectively communicate with both internal staff and the public
