      SDOT is seeking a Levy Equity Coordinator (Senior Planning and Development Specialist) to identify opportunities for improving the equitable distribution of levy investments and opportunities to do our work though a lens or equitable service. This role sits in the Project and Portfolio Management Team (PPMT) in SDOT’s Finance and Administration Division and supports the PPMT which is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the Seattle's transportation levies. The Levy Equity Coordinator will work with program owners and leadership to understand how equity has been incorporated in program delivery and identify opportunities for incorporating equity best practices into program prioritization. The position will also work closely with other City offices like the Office of Equity and Economic Inclusion to help ensure alignment of efforts throughout the City. Come help keep Seattle moving!
      • Identifies measurable objectives for improving equity outcomes in Levy subprograms.
      • Reviews programmatic approaches to equity and supports program owners to develop more consistent best practices (data sets, mapping, TEF tactics, etc.) for similar types of work (operational, maintenance, capital projects).
      • Develops equity progress monitoring methods and implements the workplan levy wide.
      • Partners with program owners to support them on overall equity practice.
      • Works with to elevate programs that have existing equity measures and practices in place and to continuously evaluate and explore opportunities for improvement.
      • Explores and supports mentorship opportunities and/or partnerships between program owners (e.g. supporting a community of practice) and provides a collaboration space where programs can learn and improve their equity practice together.
      • Identifies specific programs that would benefit from support and assistance with problem solving in implementing of measurable equity prioritization practices.
      • Outlines TEF tactics that can and will be implemented for programs, allocating accountability to these tactics across the program.
      • Support department goals in promoting diversity and social justice.
      Minimum Qualifications:
      Education:
      • Bachelor's Degree in planning, urban design, environmental studies, public administration, or related field.
      Experience:
      • Three (3) years of experience with planning and research related to land use, urban economics, human services, environmental issues, conservation; or other work directly related to City planning and development activities.
      OR: An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.

      Though not requirements, strong candidates will have some of the following experience or are able to describe comparable experience:
      • Demonstrated success communicating complex ideas to a variety of different audiences.
      • Ability to seek and find opportunities to improve what exists and collaboratively drive improvements.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a high level of customer service skill
      • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently, while keeping supervisor informed of progress and issues
      • Ability to effectively work in a multi-cultural workplace with a diverse customer base.
      Other Requirements:
      Work Environment / Physical Demands:
      • Work is typically performed in a hybrid work environment in which a minimum of 3 days of the work is completed in a City office, and 2 days of the work is completed remotely in a regular 40-hour work week.

      The full salary range for this position is $52.20 - $60.83 hourly.
