- Develops and implements initiatives and action plans to increase and improve Library and learning resources
and services; evaluates effectiveness and revises as needed - Collaborates to oversee revisions to library policy for all stakeholders
- Coordinates and supervises all aspects of the library budget and acquisitions process, including preparation of necessary forms, renewal of periodicals and other subscriptions, and communication with campuses and other Carrington personnel.
- Working with the Director of Instruction, Director of Finance, and other individuals, oversee purchase and renewal of all Library materials.
- Acquire or enhance access to new/current resources to create a collection to support the curriculum, including free and fee resources.
- As needed, revise and update Library web page to ensure a dynamic, effective, and useful Library website by reorganizing and adding/updating content and visuals.
- Communicate Vendor upgrades as needed.
- As needed, revise and enhance the Start Your Research Here! page for students and faculty to support and encourage Information Literacy.
- Schedule and chair Library Committee meetings with the Library Committee members, revise, update, and enhance the Library Guides for Programs to help students access appropriate resources.
- Collect and summarize Library metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Provide library orientation sessions as part of the Onboarding process.
- Participate in Program Reviews to ensure Library resources support the curriculum.
Summary: The Librarian is responsible for the coordination, planning, budget administration, and execution of library efforts
for Carrington College. This position requires a high degree of autonomy, organizational skill, and attention to
detail to apply extensive and specialized knowledge of library processes, procedures, and practices across the
institution. The incumbent will collaborate with varied constituencies to ensure optimal delivery of library
resources, including participation in training of staff, college governance and committees.Compensation: The starting pay range for this position is $60,000-$80,200/annually.

Education and/or Experience – A Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution,
or its equivalent, is required. A minimum of one year professional library experience is preferred. Must possess
a strong knowledge of cataloguing rules and Library of Congress classification system; must be able to convert library
cataloguing into electronic records. Familiarity with Libguides.
Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, and technical procedures.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or
oral instructions, ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of a widerange
of computer software commonly used in library/business settings (word processing, spreadsheets, databases,
and presentation software).
Presentation Skills – must possess excellent group presentation skills in order to manage meetings, present library
issues, and deliver lectures; must demonstrate effective speaking skills with a variety of people, including
students, staff, faculty, colleagues, vendors, and the like.
