Job Description

- Provide reference and readers’ advisory
- Provide circulation services, including cash handling
- Conduct programs, tours, and outreach
- Perform materials handling routines such as emptying the drop box, packing and unpacking boxes, sorting onto trucks, retrieving materials, AV problems, periodicals, processing, labels, and repairs
- Perform routines related to holds
- Provide technical assistance such as, photocopying, printing, reserving computers and scanning
- Provide direction to volunteers as required
- May assist on special projects
- Responsible for contributing to a positive and respectful workplace
- Other duties as assigned
- Secondary school graduation
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effective interpersonal skills are essential in dealing with the staff and public
- Effective written and oral skills in English are essential
- Demonstrated keyboarding ability
- Extensive knowledge in the use of library electronic resources
- Computer skills are required in relevant software
- Ability to identify process improvements and efficiencies, and participate in implementation
- Lifting is involved
- Hours of work to include evenings and Saturdays
- SUNDAY WORK MAY BE REQUIRED

Duties and Responsibilities
Please note: This is a bargaining unit position. CUPE Local 1989 members will be given consideration for this vacancy, as per the collective agreement, followed by all other employees.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $25.23 - $30.62
Hours of Work: 20 up to 48 hours biweekly for PT and 35 hours per week for FT
Work Location: Various Locations
Department/Division/Section: CMS/Community Services Dept , CMS/Mississauga Library , Library Facilities & Operations
Non-Union/Union: CUPEA Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) or Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) will be required of the successful candidate, at their own expense, to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
