      1 Temporary, Part-Time Position, up to 1 year, 20 up to 48 hours biweekly at Courtneypark Library

      Job Summary

      Provide customer service, reference, readers’ advisory, and programs. In the absence of more senior staff, is responsible for the branch.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      • Provide reference and reader’s advisory
      • Provide circulation services to customers, including cash handling
      • Participate in supervision, scheduling, training, and/or evaluation
      • In the absence of more senior staff, is responsible for the branch including staff, facility, and health and safety
      • Coordinate, plan, and conduct programs, class visits, tours, outreach
      • Prepare payroll, attendance, and financial records
      • Coordinate and perform duties such as, collection maintenance, inventories, supplies, financial records, holds, art exhibits, displays and room bookings
      • Participate on system-wide task teams and/or special projects or events
      • Prepare reports and statistics
      • Responsible for fostering a positive and respectful workplace
      • Other duties as assigned

      Please note : This is a bargaining unit position. CUPE Local 1989 members will be given consideration for this vacancy, as per the collective agreement, followed by all other employees.

      Skills and Qualifications

      • Secondary school graduation plus 3 years library experience, or a university degree/postsecondary library diploma with some library experience
      • Excellent customer service skills
      • Effective interpersonal skills are essential in dealing with the staff and public
      • Effective written and oral skills in English are essential
      • Demonstrated keyboarding ability
      • Ability to lead others
      • Extensive knowledge in the use of library electronic resources
      • Computer skills are required in relevant software
      • Ability to identify process improvements and efficiencies, and lead implementation of changes
      • Lifting is involved
      • Hours of work to include evenings and Saturdays
      • SUNDAY WORK MAY BE REQUIRED

      Hourly Rate/Salary: $29.24 - $35.19
      Hours of Work: 20 up to 48 hours biweekly
