Job Description

- Assists patrons with circulation services including recommendations for authors and books, answering reference questions, assisting customers with using computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, card catalogues, and eBook databases, and issuing new library cards.
- Maintains the library for neatness, order and cleanliness.
- Processes on-site book check-out and returns.
- Corresponds with outside library staff using the international library loan database to locate, fulfill, process and maintain library materials that the local library system does not own, and to lend, process, and maintain local library materials being requested by outside libraries.
- Schedules public display case and maintains community information area.
- Maintains and updates the magazine and newspaper collection; creates library book displays monthly to increase circulation..
- Contacts patrons with overdue library materials; prepares overdue notices and files; calculates overdue fees and ensures fees are paid in full.
This is a part-time position. Performs intermediate administrative support work at the circulation desk, preparing materials for circulation, providing assistance to library patrons, maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Library Branch Manager II & III.
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in library science, or related field and moderate experience working in a library, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Valid NC Driver's License
