      Position Summary

      The University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS) has an opening for a part-time Student Team Leader. We seek a student with library experience and demonstrated leadership ability.

      The Student Team Leader will work with University Library staff and other supervisors to:

      • Lead the student workforce – adjusting students’ workflow and assignments as needed to best meet user needs and to ensure that all work is completed in an efficient manner.
      • Model and support UL Student Employee rules and expectations amongst the student workforce – including but not limited to attendance, breaks, and exceptional customer service.

      In addition, the Student Supervisor may:

      • Monitor student employee performance; bringing any concerns or challenges to library staff as appropriate.
      • Participate in new student employee interviews.
      • Attend and participate in regular Student Manager meetings – offering input and engaging in discussions regarding student employment at UL branches.
      • Lead or implement work on special or ongoing projects.

      Applicants must be familiar with libraries and capable of working within a team environment. All student employees may be asked to work nights and/or weekends. All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current/impending school year. All library student employees must be able to shelf books and perform other physical activities as required. Please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.

      • 1 year or 2 full semesters of directly related experience with relevant library procedures, activities, and spaces.
      • Current Work Study award.
      • Experience providing user support at library public service settings.
      • Excellent customer service skills.
      • Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively; both as a team member and as a leader.
