      The Accountabilities of a Licensed Behavioral Specialist

      1. Adheres to all Federal and agency regulations in regard to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in adherence to ethical practices.
      2. Develops programs and/or activities to increase each person’s adaptive and coping skills and independent functioning as well as provide training and guidelines for those in supportive roles to assist in growth and discovery.
      3. Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy environment and promotes the physical and emotional well being of all, thorough person centered supports
      4. Identifies the needs of the individual for the community supports, working with the community connections including, but not limited to, other organizations.
      5. Supports the individuals to develop and enhance friendships, family connections and other relationships by teaching skills, providing opportunities and building on individual strengths and capabilities.
      6. Attends, participates, and if appropriate facilitates team meetings, including emergency team meetings and communicates effectively with the team regarding caseload changes
      7. Collaborates with all team members (BCM, clinical team, etc.) including individuals and/or their families to develop person centered plans that support informed choice and lead towards the achievement of chosen outcomes.
      8. Provides direct consultation in program development and interventions utilizing the best practice and methods of applied behavior analysis, positive approaches, and human learning.
      9. Conducts environmental and functional assessments of behavior, determines the need for intervention, and completes reports within designated time frames.
      10. Conducts skills assessments, such as the VB-MAPP or AFLS, for ABA programming
      11. Provides input and/or feedback supported by data collection for analysis on an ongoing basis to all team members on the progress of individual plans to support continuous growth and the delivery of quality service.
      12. May provide supervision to other employees seeking certification as a BCBA.
      13. Assist with initial RBT assessments for BHTs.
      14. Completes on site fidelity checks for BHT’s to ensure that the treatment plan is being implemented accurately.

      The Tools you need:

      1. Master’s degree in Education, Psychology or a related field
      2. In the process of completing a certificate program or graduate courses in Applied Behavior Analysis
      3. Experience developing, implementing and training others on ABA programs
      4. Experience working with youth with Autism
      5. Experience supervising others and delivering feedback is preferred
      6. Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
      7. Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle and insurance

      Preferred:

      • Licensed in PA as a Behavior Specialist or other qualifying license needed to bill Behavioral Consultation Services in PA with BCBA Certification
        • Salary range is based on certification and years of experience practicing BCBA

      Expectations:

      • Excellent organizational and time management skills
      • Ability to analyze data and make data based decisions
      • High-level communication skills are a must. You will interact with clients, families, school and daycare personnel, other external team members and other SPIN employees in person, via phone and email, through social media and group presentations
      • Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability and gender issues though daily practices, interactions and encouraging personal choice.
      • Maintains Behavior Specialist licensure or other approved licensure/ certification standards through continuing education.
