      Position Overview

      The Activities Assistant assists the Activities Director in developing, implementing, and coordinating a resident-centered Activity Program designed to meet the physical, mental and psycho-social needs of the residents. This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of the activities within the community. Activities Assistant must be able to facilitate a variety of activities in a professional, friendly manner that enhances the lifestyle of the residents and community.

      Essential Job Functions


      Essential Job Functions:
      Assists in developing, implementing and coordinating a resident-centered Activity Program
      • Assists in scheduling movies, planning parties, outings, and providing games/activities for residents, families and staff
      • Supervises activities as needed
      • Maintains and posts a monthly Activity Calendar

      Assists in the coordination of the volunteer Program
      • Assists in orienting, training, supporting, and supervising volunteers
      • Assists in planning, special events designed to recognize volunteers for their service

      Assists in the coordination of Social Services
      • Provides social support for the residents and helps with Activities of Daily Living
      • Maintains close contact with residents, visiting when necessary, to ensure that their social, emotional, and spiritual needs are being met.
      • Answers questions and offers information to meet residents’ needs
      • Assists residents with crafts or other projects as needed
      • Recognized residents’ birthdays and other special events
      • Assists in mealtime activities, including escorting residents to the dining room and serving food trays

      Promotes KBRS and assists in admissions, dismissals and transfers
      • Distributes requested facility information, such as brochures and informational packets and gives fours to interested persons
      • Sorts and delivers mail
      • Assists residents in the move-in, move-out, or transfer process by notifying appropriate parties, distributing keys, and assisting residents with change of address forms.

      Assists Activities Director in Managing the Department
      • Contributes to the planning and decision-making in the Department
      • Stays informed about current federal, state and professional regulations, standards, also assists in developing polices and procedures when necessary
      • Assists in maintaining an ongoing Quality Assurance program for the department
      • Recommends needed equipment and supplies to the Coordinator, adheres to the department budget and monitors spending

      Performs administrative duties
      • Assists in completing required paperwork for each resident and maintaining records as required by State and Federal regulations
      • Maintains daily and monthly evaluations of residents’ participation in activities
      • Reads and follows Care Plans used in providing daily activities for the residents
      • Participates in the Resident Council meetings as required
