      Performs work necessary for the set-up/operation of assembly and packing lines. Consistently executes Quality System work procedures pertinent to the position. This includes such duties as:

      Sets-up packing line by positioning workplace equipment and assembly jigs, ware to be packed and packing material along conveyor as per set-up sheet, packing specification, bill of materials, and schedule. This includes such as: machines and jigs set-up, adjustments, and some PM maintenance such as cleaning.

      Maintains packaging literature system and verifies set-up sheet accuracy.

      Determines supplies needed by interpretation of packing specifications and set-up sheets. Stages sufficient quantities of glassware, packing material, accessories and literature to start production and keeps workplace supplied from immediate line area by instructing utility workers and the industrial truck driver. Performs special set-ups without use of set-up sheets when variances in materials or staffing require changes. Explains operation to be performed at each workplace to Assembler - Packers assigned to the line. Notifies supervisor of any changes or anticipated shortages or delays in line start-ups, based on knowledge of production rates.

      Verifies and identifies all ware-in-process, accessories, etc. for conformance with assembly and packing specifications.

      Maintain shrinkage and production record for the line. Segregates reusable packing material generated on the line. Corrects quality problems when necessary.

      Ensures that all WIP, packing material, etc. are identified and strapped, or otherwise prepared, to be returned to the warehouse once the line is stopped. Keeps records and makes simple calculations.

      Maintains and controls literature storage racks by the accurate receipt, identification and storage of all in-pack literature. Date codes literature as required using manual or mechanized date coding devices. Provides label identification and inventory quantity information to production planning and purchasing departments. Independently identifies and makes disposition of obsolete material.

      Directs and train personnel assigned to the line in supplying, machine loading, palletizing and housekeeping during set-up, assembly or shutdown of line.

      Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area.
