      General Summary:

      The Manager of Cold Chain Logistics Process is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure the success of cold chain logistics operations within Vertex Pharmaceuticals. This position requires close collaboration with logistics service providers, order management teams, quality assurance, packaging engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and meet business needs. The Manager will be an integral member of the logistics team, working to develop a robust logistics network to support pipeline programs, evaluate and launch logistics and supply chain information systems, and manage all quality systems from open to closure.

      Key Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and work instructions with global contract manufacturing organizations and logistics service providers to ensure product quality and business needs are met.
      • Manage quality systems, including deviations, CAPAs, and change controls, from open to closure.
      • Work with logistics leadership to develop a robust logistics network to support pipeline programs, including supplier qualification, shipping validation, and lane selection.
      • Evaluate, build, and launch logistics and supply chain information systems in conjunction with the Supply Chain Process and Systems lead and GIS.
      • Ensure shipments plans are on time and compliant by working with key stakeholders such as Technical Operations, Trade Compliance, QA, and Supply Chain Planning.
      • Define, measure, and communicate key performance indicators and supportive metrics that track the effectiveness of logistics and distribution operations.
      • Participate in quality exceptions and solve complex logistical issues, selecting modes of transport as necessary.
      • Ensure compliance with regulations such as Good Distribution Practices.
      • Lead process redesign workshops and manage process changes.
      • Educate business users responsible for managing and operating business processes.
      • Monitor, measure, and provide feedback on process performance.
      • Facilitate process workshops that involve eliciting process requirements and liaising with users.
      • Coordinate the development of SOWs and POs.
      • Assume business process ownership of new capabilities as required.
      • Review and/or implement changes to controlled documents as needed.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Knowledge and Skills:

      • Direct experience managing logistics of small molecule and Cell and Gene Therapy programs and short lead time cold chain operations.
      • Familiarity managing logistics with a network of both internal and external (CDMO) manufacturing sites.
      • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment, including business leadership to build alignment.
      • Excellent understanding of Good Distribution Practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
      • Working knowledge of Trade Compliance requirements.
      • In-depth analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.

      Education and Experience:

      • BS/BA degree in Engineering or similar relevant field .
      • Minimum of 5 years relevant clinical/commercial drug, device, and/or combination product pharmaceutical experience.

      Remote-Eligible Roles

      In this Remote-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:

      Remote: work remotely five days per week and come into the office on occasion – you’re always welcome on-site; or select

      Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select

      On-Site : work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.

      Salary range: $111,760 - $167,640 annually

      Disclosure Statement:

      The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
