      About the Role

      The Logistics Assistant will have the unique opportunity to work with the Refugee Services team. This role is responsible for setting up apartments for all new arrivals. Handle pick-up, storage, and delivery of donations and other items needed by Refugee Services clients under the supervision of Employment Coordinator. To provide accurate, reliable and courteous transportation to Refugee services clients to and from employment sites using Agency’s vehicles.

      Main Responsibilities

      • Using agency vehicle, pick up refugees at their apartment or other locations
      • Drive clients to employment site. Drop off clients and bring them home
      • Pick up clients from their homes and bring them to the agency office for employment orientation.
      • Transport clients from their homes or from agency office to the job site application and bring them back home.
      • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and report any maintenance issues with the vehicle immediately to the supervisor using the required maintenance forms.
      • Set up apartments and prepare housing for all new arrivals including all household items.
      • Deliver sofas and other furniture items for new arrivals.
      • Maintain inventory control for R&P household items as needed.
      • Meet with clients to determine their need for items and communicate with them about deliveries.
      • Complete paperwork documenting donations and deliveries.
      • Communicate with donors and clients with integrity and good customer service.
      • Pick up new arrivals from airports when needed.
      • Organize, clean, and maintain donations and the Interfaith Ministries storage area.
      • Pickup and deliver donations for Receptions and Placement (R&P) and Matching Grant (MG) program in coordination with Operations Assistant.
      • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

      Qualifications, Skills & Experience

      • High school diploma.
      • Ability to move 50 pounds unassisted daily.
      • Must be willing and able to drive a 12-passenger van.
      • Knowledge of the Harris County area and ability to follow directions and utilize maps.
      • Ability to follow instructions, be part of a team, and maintain trust.
      • Good communication skills and customer service.
      • Reading and writing English is required. Bilingual in another refugee language (Arabic, Spanish, Burmese, and Nepali) is preferred.
      • Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance as required by law and a good driving record is required.
