  Summary

  This role is responsible for optimizing plant & human performance for specific maintenance unit operations in rock receiving, SPA and phosphate plants. Is responsible for sharing oversight with maintenance activities including routine, preventative and turnaround maintenance throughout the plant. Works directly with other departments in the plant to help insure efficient operation and minimize down time within manufacturing operations. Works with front line supervisors and planners to train/educate them on continuous quality improvement to reduce cost and maximize productivity. Promotes new and innovative thinking around equipment reliability.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains job knowledge by frequent referral to operating and safety procedures, plant directives and goals. Assists in writing procedures. Prepares and conducts team and safety training meetings.
  • Oversees corrective action teams to examine and resolve problems. Handles personnel problems and takes disciplinary action. Troubleshoots and corrects problems.
  • Manages several front-line maintenance crew supervisors and planners.
  • Coordinates plant maintenance operations by communicating with direct supervisors and other production, maintenance, electrical, and instrument personnel.
  • Collects and evaluates daily logs, check sheets, and other data as needed.
  • Inspects equipment to insure isolation of chemical, electrical and/or environmental hazards.

  Typical Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

  Relevant Experience

  • 5 or more years of demonstrated experienced chemical processing, mining / mineral processing, power generation or other relevant heavy industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, short outage management and turn around management preferred.
  • Experience with Phosphate based fertilizer plants is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Experience with planning and scheduling software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously and drive efforts to completion.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people.
  • Strong desire to learn with a high level of initiative.

  Other Information

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include, but not limited to Excel, Word etc. required.
  • Must have the ability to clearly communicate technical information, concepts and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to identify and resolve problems expeditiously and have strong analytical and interpretation skills while demonstrating good judgment in developing alternative solutions.

  • Must clearly communicate expectations and delegate effectively.
  • Drive safety performance for the Rock Springs Plant North Area Maintenance group.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop exempt and hourly maintenance personnel to drive continuous improvements in the Rock Springs Plant Maintenance Department.
  • Manage day to day maintenance planning and work execution for the Rock Springs Plant Rock Receiving, Phos, and SPA facilities.
  • Drive Maintenance Planning and Scheduling improvements in coordination with the operations and maintenance groups.
  • Support the preventative maintenance evaluation and continuous improvement initiative.
  • Support the Rock Springs Plant Reliability continuous improvement program.
  • Support Turn Around planning and execution – including scope development, schedule development, cost tracking and cost control.
  • Work with Operations and Maintenance Departments to improve planned and emergent short outage planning and execution in all plants.
