      Department Overview

      Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) gas transmission system, formerly called California Gas Transmission, supplies all the high-pressure natural gas to PG&E's gas distribution system and large non-core users in PG&E's service territory. PG&E's gas transmission also provides gas transmission to non-core customers outside of PG&E's service territory in Southern California.

      Job Summary

      This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

      The Maintenance Assistant will provide clerical support to local district crew personnel for operations and maintenance with Gas System Maintenance; also provides physical support, stocking local warehouse and delivering parts including loading & unloading for workgroup. The employee may be responsible for providing support for the hazardous waste monitoring program. Per the Letter Of Agreement, the Maintenance Assistant classification will function as a Utility Worker, Technical Maintenance or Transmission Maintenance as described in Exhibit VI-C.

      Work predominantly indoors. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours, and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment. Potential for overtime.

      This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

      This is an onsite position.

      PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $35.82 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.

      Job Responsibilities

      • DOT-Emergency Response Only
      • Monitors budget using current systems.
      • Requisitions, receives, delivers, disperses, ships, and salvages materials.
      • Coordinates material delivery to include the expediting of the materials from the supplier, logistics management, delivery requirement validation with the requesting organization, and communication with LOB.
      • Transports supplies, materials or equipment in a pickup or passenger car.
      • Performs yard maintenance.
      • Cleans vehicles.
      • Maintains fire extinguishers.
      • Performs weed abatement.
      • Inventories first aid and eye wash kits.
      • Work in PG&E computer applications including but not limited to SAP Work Management, ILIS, GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
      • Coordinates contracts, permits and vendor contacts.
      • Operates tools
      • Answers phones.
      • Performs administrative tasks.
      • Orders stationery and office supplies.
      • Performs payroll entry of Employee Data.
      • Keeps records.
      • Prepares reports
      • Process bills using current systems.
      • Works in the field as an assistant as needed.

      Qualifications

      Minimum:

      • Must be at least 18 years of age
      • Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
      • Must possess a valid CA Driver’s license

      Desired:

      • Prior experience in office management and administrative practices - for example phones, filing, mail, use of office equipment - as needed to perform at the job level
      • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification
      • Experience with payroll entry or bill payment in a previous role
      • Experience using SAP in a previous role
