      Job summary

      The Maintenance Officer undertakes an important role to ensure that our buildings and grounds are maintained to the high standards that our patients and visitors expect and deserve.

      The successful candidate will be able to carry out a variety of light maintenance tasks both inside and outside the Hospice. In this role you will support the Facilities Manager in the maintenance and upkeep of our facility, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, families, staff and visitors.

      Main duties of the job

      Facilities

      Under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Officer to be trained to carry out the following tasks

      Extraction fans/grills to be vacuumed and damp dusted if needed (this is a weekly duty that is conducted on a rolling rota)

      Boiler House/Pump House/Lift Room/Oxygen Store (this is a weekly duty)

      Air Conditioning Filters take out filter, clean and replace

      En-suite drains dismantle, clean and reassemble (this is a monthly duty that is conducted on a rolling rota)

      Radiators check valve and hoover (this is a quarterly duty that is conducted on a rolling rota)

      Lift door open and close the door to test mechanism (this is a weekly duty)

      Bed wheels oil and ensure working (this is a weekly duty that is conducted on a rolling rota)

      Chair safety inspection check sturdiness, all chairs have ID number (this is an annual duty that is conducted on a rolling rota)

      Pat Testing all electrical items in both building (this is a weekly duty that is conducted on a rolling rota)

      Routine painting and decorating

      2.3 Grounds Maintenance

      Under the supervision and direction of the Facilities Manager to be trained to carry out the following tasks

      General tidiness around both buildings (this is a weekly duty)

      General gardening duties

      General maintenance of building

      Checking and maintaining all outdoor furniture

      Ensure tidiness, lights working, door locks not faulty

      This includes HWBC Boiler House as well

      Education Suite

      Kitchen

      IT Room

      Window sills etc

      Checking and maintaining all outdoor furniture both buildings

      Checking patient patio furniture 10 in total

      Checking outdoor benches etc
