      Maintenance Specialist - Plumbing - Journey 2/Lead

      to help us Keep Alaska Moving!



      What you will be doing:
      The Maintenance Specialist, Plumbing, Journey II/Lead will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and heating systems at Northern Region DOT&PF facilities. Key duties include working with domestic water distribution systems, drainage, sewage, and septic disposal systems, ensuring compliance with the Uniform Plumbers Code. The role also involves maintaining and troubleshooting gas and oil-fired boilers, furnaces, and related components, as well as managing fuel delivery systems and controls. Additionally, the specialist will perform general maintenance tasks such as minor electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work as needed. This position requires a strong focus on system functionality and safety, with a commitment to high-quality service

      This position is based out of the Fairbanks Hub Maintenance Shop and will provide plumbing and general maintenance support for the DOT&PF buildings and facilities.

      Who we are looking for:
      • Plumbing and Pipefitting: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.
      • Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations
      • Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance

      Valid Alaska Driver's license Vacancies in this job class are filled through Union referral, except for promotions, demotions, transfers, and emergency appointments.
