What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Oversee the analysis of financial information from local school units for federal reporting
- Review and manage financial records and audit reports within the Maine Education Finance System (MEFS)
- Provide technical assistance to school personnel regarding financial coding and compliance
- Assist in research projects directed by the Department of Education related to school finance
- Make recommendations on school funding matters to the Commissioner, State Board of Education, and Legislature
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Eight (8) years of experience in analyzing, evaluating, and developing improvements in organizational and managerial systems
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Familiarity with federal and state accounting handbooks and school finance statutes
- Ability to use technology-based programs for school funding development
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Training or experience in accounting is preferred
- Previous experience in education finance or consulting roles
