What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Continuously review citywide budget, finance, and accounting policies and procedures
- Develop and recommend policy and procedure improvements to management
- Provide budget and accounting guidance to leadership and department staff, collaborating to resolve fiscal issues
- Create and maintain financial reports and dashboards to support data-informed decision-making
- Research and track developments in State and Federal regulations and accounting standards to ensure compliance
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Experience working in Finance within the public sector
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in public finance and accounting tasks
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree (MPA, MBA, or equivalent)
- Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO)
- Experience in developing financial reports and dashboards
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance in public finance
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across departments
