      Manager, Corporate Development ( Transaction Finance Group)

      Gilead is seeking a Manager, Corporate Development - Transaction Finance Group based out of our global headquarters in Foster City, CA. This role will report to our Executive Director of Corporate Development – Transaction Finance Group.

      The Manager, Corporate Development’s primary role will be to perform the in-depth financial analysis required to support M&A, in/out licensing, JVs, spinouts, and strategy projects. Additionally, you will work closely with deal teams and be responsible for valuation and financial modeling. The Manager will synthesize and present the results to deal teams and senior management while coordinating with key parts of commercial, R&D, finance, manufacturing, accounting, tax amongst others to communicate and assess the impact of transactions.

      The successful candidate will also drive the creation and evolution of financial valuation standards within Corporate Development.


      Specific job responsibilities:

      • Manages and supports the analysis of complex licensing and acquisition opportunities.

      • Analyzes commercial opportunities, deal trends and comps.

      • Will be required to build M&A models.

      • Contributes to deal structuring, term sheet development through financial analysis of economics, and understands licensing contracts.

      • Collaborate with negotiations, and assist in closing complex contracts, with guidance.

      • Prepares presentations to senior management and Board with guidance.

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 6 years of Finance and/or Accounting and/or Analytics experience

      • Master’s degree and 4 years of Finance and/or Accounting and/or Analytics experience

      • 2+ years of experience working in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, or Consulting

      • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required.

      • Strong financial modeling and forecasting skills required.

      • Experienced in building core knowledge of key disease areas and/or new therapeutic areas that may be of interest.

      • Must be knowledgeable of biopharmaceutical industry.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • 2+ years of Biotechnology industry expertise

      • CFA license or CPA a plus.

      • Deep valuation and financial modeling experience

      • Strong business research and financial analysis skills, with an emphasis on Corporate Finance

      • Ability to generate broad and productive internal network and an understanding of how to manage across various groups

      • Strong presence with Senior Executives including ability to communicate effectively on a prepared and ad-hoc basis

      • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills, specifically financial analysis with an emphasis on valuation

      • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and interpret complex problems

      • Exceptional written and oral communications skills

      • Team oriented player with a strong ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

      The salary range for this position is: $129,540.00 - $167,640.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
