- Develop and implement ministry-wide strategies for workers’ compensation.
- Oversee medical adjuster decisions, including claim establishment and compensability determinations.
- Provide guidance on educational presentations delivered by workers’ compensation coordinators.
- Ensure timely reporting and accurate completion of self-insurance applications and renewals.
- Maintain compliance with all state reporting requirements through process improvements.
- Review claims regularly, focusing on litigation, second injuries, lost time, and high-risk cases. Approve settlements up to $75,000.
- Manage high-profile claims with significant exposure for Mercy.
- Monitor workers’ compensation payments and ensure timely processing through established systems.
- Conduct routine claims reviews with coordinators, adjusters, and specialists.
- Participate in projects related to operational system changes, acquisitions, and divestitures impacting workers’ compensation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare management, or related field. (In lieu of degree, 9 years of relevant experience will be considered.)
- Experience: 5 years of workers’ compensation experience required.
- Skills:
- Strong critical thinking and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Service-oriented mindset with collaborative approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel expertise preferred).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently or in teams.
- Proven ability to lead change effectively.
- 2 years of experience leading a team.

Position Overview
The Manager of Workers’ Compensation leads the administration of Mercy’s system-wide workers’ compensation program. This role focuses on strategy, compliance, and operational excellence—developing processes, metrics, education, and communication efforts to ensure a best-in-class program. You will provide leadership and guidance to regional Co-worker Health Managers while driving initiatives that align with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.Key Responsibilities
