      Business Leader (Manufacturing)

      Full-Time, Permanent Role

      Location: Cameronbridge Distillery, Leven

      Join our Cameronbridge Distillery which is the largest grain distillery in Scotland and contributes single grain whisky to some of our much-loved Scotch brands including Johnnie Walker and produces white spirits including Smirnoff, Gordon's Gin and Tanqueray.

      The Bio-energy plant at the Cameronbridge distillery is the first distillery in the world to combine biomass combustion, anaerobic digestion and water recovery and has a major contribution to the delivery of Diageo’s Society 2030 ambitions including supporting the global sustainability agenda among other vital goals.

      The purpose of the role is to own the New Make Grain Spirit (NMGS) production teams to achieve our ambitious site results and setting clear strategic direction to your operational area to be responsible for the business. You will be one of three Business Leaders driving the process team on site comprising both Operators and Engineers. This role requires an individual who excels in spending time on the ground engaging, motivating, and encouraging your team to deliver world-class performance (50-60% time on the shop floor).

      Some of the Key Responsibilities:

      • To lead and advocate good governance to ensure that all health, safety and environment, quality, cost and reliability standards are met.
      • Embed a strong Tier 1, feeding into Tier 2, leading and motivating the shift team to take accountability in all aspects of the balanced scorecard.
      • To lead & advocate the Tracc Programme (Diageo’s lean manufacturing toolkit) to develop performance, standards, capabilities and asset care to exceed balanced scorecard targets.
      • Deliver agree efficiency savings through identification and implementation of focussed improvement projects.
      • Providing mentorship and support to all direct reports and their teams, to facilitate achievement of department targets and successful delivery of continuous improvement projects.
      • To run the high level of day-to-day complexities in a complex and busy operational environment to deliver high-quality products safely to plan.
      • Handle contractors via our permit to work system.

      Your Impact on the Role:

      • With continuously striving for next-level performance, you will follow leader's standard work and ensure all team members follow standard operating procedures.
      • Working to deliver the Asset Care plan in partnership with the Engineering Centre.
      • Conducting Permit Writing and Control of contractors, with support from the Site Management Co-ordinator, where required and signing off on management checks with support from Site Management Co-ordinators.
      • Mentoring and leading situational problem-solving on shift and, engaging with daily operational review meetings to discuss persistent performance issues.
      • Influencing support functions to support their improvement initiatives

      Build a "high-performing team”. Lead the team through defined phases of development. Identify capability needs of the team members and the team.

      About You

      • Experience or relevant qualifications relating to Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Manufacturing Excellence is desirable
      • The NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification is a pre-requisite for the role – if you don’t already have it you need to be willing to achieve this qualification within your first year.
      • Similar experience and a great track record in a world-class FMCG production/ manufacturing/ pharma or, any similar environment.
      • Natural leaders with a consistent track record in leading a high-performing team
      • Proactive structured problem evaluation & solving skills learnt through exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Manufacturing excellence.

      This role requires an element of shift work following an early shift, back shift and core shift rotation and working 1 in 3 weekends. You will also be part of the sites duty manager team and be On-call 1 week in 12.
